Sleep

My interest

I am very intrigued by the mechanism of sleep. I think it is essential, yet people do not value it enough. I also have a personal reason. I struggle to sleep well, and it is a big problem for me. I dislike not being able to sleep properly, and if I had to solve one problem in my life, better sleep would be near the top.

What I have tried

I have tried memory foam pillows and red-light blocking glasses. Both help, but I am still not satisfied with the quality of my sleep.

What gets in the way

Some of it comes down to my own habits. European football matches air in India at midnight or 1 AM, and I watch them. I also often have music jam sessions with friends. As a result, my body does not know when to sleep. On nights when I cannot sleep, which is very common, I write down ideas on the sticky notes by my bed.

Why it matters to me

We spend a third of our day, 8 of 24 hours, asleep, and time is our most fixed resource. Bad sleep affects the whole day. You have less energy, you are less productive, and you lose time, which lowers the quality of that resource. Sleep sets the tone for the day, and I have felt that myself.

“Sleep sets the tone for the day.”

What I want to build

I want people to sleep better. I would love to connect with others who are building in this space. I recently met Mr. Abhishek Sahu, founder of DreamSpan, a sleep-tech and health startup. I want to build something in this sector myself, and this page reflects my aspiration to help people sleep better.
