Match Analysis
Reading time: 2 min
Why I started
I have always been a football fan and have played since 1st grade, in 2013. I have given football a great deal of time, through practice, matches, watching, thinking and talking about the game. I never considered sharing my views publicly because I was camera shy, and I still am. But I am confident talking about matches and tactics because I could do it for hours.
Friends I met through my mentor encouraged me to start creating content around football. So I started this page, and creating content for it feels natural, not forced.
How I make it
I usually watch a match and take notes at half time and full time. Sometimes I make previews before matches, but I only share those as stories. I also look for context beyond the match itself, such as what happened in the lead-up to a game, rather than only giving my opinion on the result.
Best and worst reels
My best reel was the one where I tried a hook for the first time. I wore traditional Indian clothes because I had a garba night and a Barcelona match at the same time, and I think people connected with its authenticity. My weakest reels were my first ones, when I was shy and did not speak with confidence. After 3-4 videos, it became much easier to share my ideas.
What I noticed
Becoming a creator is not that hard if you do what you already enjoy, stay genuine and have fun along the way. Over time, you will get close to your goals, if not reach them.
“Do what you already enjoy, stay genuine and have fun along the way.”
How it changed
I used to record a video right after a game, speak for five minutes and post. Now I also publish match analyses as carousels of around 10 images. I reached out to Barcelona creators with 100K+ followers on Instagram, such as @badbarcaopinions, and asked for feedback. Some replied. One key lesson was the importance of having your own USP and your own way of presenting opinions.
I have also contacted potential collaborators to feature on the page and make football content together.
